The much anticipated 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is now ready to hit the road and arriving at Deery of Ames any day now
The Pacifica uses a refreshed 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which has no cooled exhaust gas re circulation and two-step valve lift. The engine takes advantage of the Atkinson cycle in which the intake valve is left open during combustion.
"You'll lose a little bit of power when you do that but you also lose a lot of the pumping losses that you would have. The vehicle is more efficient," Pacifica Hybrid Chief Engineer Kevin Mets tells AutoBlog. "We can afford to lose a little bit of internal combustion power because we have the 16-kilowatt-hour battery that can provide all the power you need instantaneously."
The 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is stored under the flooring, directly below the second row of seats. It can last for up to 30 miles before the car switches back to the gas engine.
With the New Pacifica Hybrid ,Chrysler made subtle changes to differentiate it with the standard Pacifica models.
Exterior changes include special badging, teal emblems, a slight change to the grille making it a wave pattern.
Interior changes for the cabin are minimal besides adding the charging indicator and changes to the infotainment system for the additional E Hybrid Menu.
The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is a "true" 7 passenger vehicle. It is equipped with a roomy third row seat that can transform into 87.5 cubes of storage. That is running comparable to the Chevrolet Tahoe of 94.7 cubic feet
The Pacifica is going to be available in the Premium and Platinum Trim levels. Standard equipment for the vehicle include U connect, 8.4 inch touch screen infotainment, Blind Spot monitoring with rear cross traffic and more safety standard features
